The senator took part in a meeting of the joint task force of the Interparliamentary Commission on Cooperation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the National People’s Congress of China.

According to First Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Andrey Denisov, the event held in Beijing was an important milestone in the preparation of the 11th meeting of the Interparliamentary Commission of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the National People’s Congress scheduled for the first half of 2026. An exchange of views took place on the draft agenda of the upcoming meeting, the dates and its format.

The senator noted that, during the joint task force meeting, parliamentarians discussed a range of issues related to addressing international challenges and threats, upholding regional security and stability, and advancing inter-parliamentary cooperation in scientific and technological innovation, including the expanded use and regulation of artificial intelligence.

An important item on the agenda of the meeting was the discussion of legislative measures to boost youth, cultural and region-to-region exchanges in the context of the 2026–2027 Cross Years of Education, Andrey Denisov said. According to the senator, Russia and China have already come close to the target benchmark of annual academic mobility of 100,000 people.

The senator emphasised that not only good translators will be in demand in both countries in the near future but also bilingual specialists in medicine, industrial manufacturing, finance, and law.

As part of the visit to China, meetings were organised with Chinese experts in education, training of party personnel, and political scientists. During a visit to the People’s University of China, the Party School of the CPC Central Committee and the Chinese Academy of International Affairs, the legislators learned about the partners’ approaches to solving pressing international problems and their views on the further development of Russian-Chinese relations, Andrey Denisov said.
