Konstantin Kosachev speaks at international conference, Russia and India: Towards a New Agenda for Bilateral Relations

The interests of Russia and India on the international stage largely coincide, and this determines the modalities of our dialogue, the Deputy Speaker noted.


Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev took part in the international conference, Russia and India: Towards a New Agenda for Bilateral Relations, speaking at the plenary session ‘Russia and India in an Emerging Multipolar World’.

In his address, Konstantin Kosachev highlighted the importance of Russian-Indian relations against the backdrop of a shifting international system. “The idea of forming a Eurasian triangle of Russia, India and China is becoming particularly resonant today,” the Deputy Speaker said. In his view, the interests of Russia and India on the global stage largely coincide, and this determines the modalities of their dialogue and interaction on international platforms.

The conference was organised by the Russian International Affairs Council and the Embassy of the Republic of India in the Russian Federation.

The Foreign Ministers of Russia and India, Sergey Lavrov and Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, delivered welcoming remarks to the participants. Other speakers at the conference included Igor Ivanov, President of the Russian International Affairs Council and Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Nikhilesh Giri, Chargé d’Affaires of the Indian Embassy in Russia; Denis Alipov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of India; Alexander Dynkin, President of the Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO) of the Russian Academy of Sciences; and other distinguished international affairs experts.
