The Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council met with the Deputy Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia.
Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev held a meeting with Deputy Minister for International Multilateral Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Abdulrahman Al-Rassi.
The parties noted the positive dynamics of Russian-Saudi relations, facilitated by the personal, trusting relationship between the two countries’ leaders, as well as by regular contacts at the highest and ministerial levels, including between the foreign ministries and other relevant agencies.
“Interparliamentary cooperation is developing in line with this active dynamic. The Chairman of the Saudi Arabian Consultative Assembly, Abdullah Al ash-Sheikh, is expected to visit Moscow soon at the invitation of the State Duma. A visit to Riyadh by members of the senatorial ‘friendship group’ is also being prepared,” Konstantin Kosachev said.
He added that Saudi Arabia’s participation as a partner country in the 15th INNOPROM International Industrial Exhibition in Yekaterinburg in July 2025 proved highly productive.
“The leadership of Saudi Arabia has decided to participate as a guest country at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum in 2026. This further confirms the high level and quality of our bilateral relations,” the Federation Council Deputy Speaker emphasised.
During the meeting, it was noted that both countries are preparing to celebrate the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations, with a series of joint events planned for this milestone.
Abdulrahman Al-Rassi highlighted the important role of parliamentarians in supporting the implementation of bilateral agreements and promoting cooperation.
Among the significant forthcoming steps, he mentioned the mutual abolition of visas for both countries’ citizens and extended an invitation for Russia to participate in the World Expo 2030 in Riyadh.
The sides also discussed current regional and global issues, coordination on international platforms, conflict resolution, and counterterrorism efforts.
The meeting participants reaffirmed that our countries share the same or closely aligned positions on many key topics, and underscored the importance of maintaining regular contacts at all levels.
