Federation Council Deputy Speaker took part in celebrations marking the 34th anniversary of the republic’s state independence.
Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Nikolai Zhuravlev attended a gala reception hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Russian Federation to celebrate the 34th anniversary of the country’s independence. Held in Moscow, the event brought together diplomats, parliamentarians, and representatives from the business and cultural communities. Nikolai Zhuravlev delivered congratulatory remarks on behalf of the Federation Council.
“Thirty-four years ago, a new chapter in the history of the Tajik people began, marking the start of Tajikistan’s own path toward development and the strengthening of its statehood,” the senator emphasised.
He highlighted that the current strong level of Russian-Tajik cooperation is the result of the consistent policies pursued by the two heads of state – President of Russia Vladimir Putin and President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. Special attention was given to the outcomes of their recent meetings and the signing of several important bilateral agreements.
He also noted that the implementation of high-level agreements is supported by close cooperation between parliamentarians, and personally between the chairpersons of the two countries’ upper chambers, Valentina Matvienko and Rustami Emomali. According to the senator, the Commission on Cooperation between the Federation Council and the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, chaired on the Russian side by Nikolai Zhuravlev, continues to serve as an important platform for dialogue and collaboration.
“Our joint efforts make a significant contribution to strengthening the bonds between the peoples of Russia and Tajikistan. I am confident that we will continue to carry out ambitious projects for the benefit of our citizens,” he added.
Nikolai Zhuravlev expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Russian Federation, Davlatshoh Gulmahmadzoda, for the diplomatic mission’s role in advancing bilateral relations.
“Our unity holds tremendous strength and potential for achieving great accomplishments,” the Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council emphasised.
