Inna Svyatenko: The Female Perspective discussion track has become a traditional part of the business programme of the Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum

The Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council addressed the event in Kazan.

Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Inna Svyatenko opened the Female Perspective track at the XVI International Economic Forum Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum.

In her remarks, the senator emphasised that this was a time of great opportunities when women were able to realise their political, creative and business potential, regardless of their religious affiliation, to offer strategic solutions at state level and to become actively involved in the development of their respective countries.

“As President of the Russian Federation has noted, for centuries our multi-ethnic country has been open for wide-ranging collaboration with the Islamic world’s states. We are ready to share our experience and to attentively study and adopt the experience of our foreign colleagues,” Inna Svyatenko said.

The Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council recalled that the Female Perspective discussion track had been included in the business programme of the Forum for the third time now. “This underscores the role of women who are making a substantial contribution to the development of the social sphere, healthcare, the economy, science, business, peacekeeping missions, volunteer movements and the preservation of historical memory, while combining traditions with modern changes and progress. Current discussions will determine the new direction of subsequent collaboration between women in Russia and the Islamic world countries,” the Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council added.

Inna Svyatenko noted that Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko prioritised the female agenda. The themes of today’s event are consonant with the agenda of the Eurasian Women’s Forum. Women from the Islamic world countries are actively involved in its work. “On May 16, a special session dealing with the development of business dialogue between women of Russia and the Islamic world will take place during the Kazan forum’s Female Perspective track and under the auspices of the Eurasian Women’s Forum,” the senator said.

The Federation Council Deputy Speaker noted that in Russia women tend to become more actively involved in the work of government agencies at every level. Every year, multiple measures are implemented within the framework of the Russian Federation’s National Action Strategy for Women. They aim to support women and to involve them more actively in public, political and economic life and to improve their social status, to protect their health and raise their education level.

“We will continue our joint work in such spheres as raising popular awareness of traditional family and moral values, protecting motherhood and childhood, women’s health and nutrition, beauty and the creative industry,” Inna Svyatenko concluded.
