On behalf of the President of Russia, Valentina Matvienko conveyed heartfelt greetings and warmest wishes from Vladimir Putin to the President of Uzbekistan.
The Speaker of the Federation Council congratulated the Uzbek head of state on the successful hosting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union’s anniversary session in Tashkent – the oldest international interparliamentary organisation. Valentina Matvienko praised Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s exemplary remarks at the Assembly’s plenary meeting.
On behalf of the Russian parliamentary delegation, she expressed gratitude for the traditionally warm reception, hospitality, and sustained attention the President of Uzbekistan has devoted to advancing interparliamentary cooperation.
Valentina Matvienko informed the President of Uzbekistan about her prior meetings with the heads of both chambers of the Oliy Majlis – Senate Speaker Tanzila Narbaeva and Legislative Chamber Speaker Nuriddinjon Ismoilov.
The Speaker of the Federation Council further thanked the President for Uzbekistan’s commitment to preserving the historical memory of the Great Patriotic War and caring for veterans.
During the meeting, the President of Uzbekistan extended greetings to the Russian head of state and confirmed his participation in events in Moscow marking the 80th anniversary of Victory.
In remarks to journalists following her visit, Valentina Matvienko described her talks with the Uzbek leader as highly substantive.
The Speaker of the Federation Council invited Shavkat Mirziyoyev to address the Federation Council at a time convenient for him.
Commenting on bilateral cooperation, Valentina Matvienko characterised Russian-Uzbek interaction as a model of genuine alliance. “The close, business-like, trusting relations between our presidents have set a vigorous pace for bilateral engagement. This yields excellent results, with the decisions of our leaders being consistently implemented,” stated the Speaker of the Federation Council, noting growing trade turnover and expanding interregional ties under the heads of state’s patronage.
She emphasised that hosting such a high-profile assembly in Tashkent underscores Uzbekistan’s increasing role in global affairs and its well-deserved respect within the international community.
