Lilia Gumerova attends the opening of exhibition dedicated to the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Indonesia

Parliamentarians of our countries are actively interacting, the senator said.

Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture and head of the group on cooperation between the Federation Council and the Regional Representative Council of the People's Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia Lilia Gumerova took part in the opening of a photo exhibition of archival documents dedicated to the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Indonesia.

The event, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, included addresses by Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Russian Federation Jose Antonio Morato Tavares.

According to the senator, the materials displayed in the photo exhibition reflect the progressive development of relations between the two countries and illustrate the traditions of friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of Russia and Indonesia. ‘The archival documents confirm that since its independence, Indonesia has traditionally been one of the leading partners of our country.’

Lilia Gumerova noted the active cooperation between the legislators of the two countries. She and Jose Antonio Morato Tavares discussed current issues of cooperation and preparations for this year's upcoming events in the parliamentary friendship groups.

“We highly appreciate the established trust-based nature of communication between the legislative bodies of our states. The Federation Council as a chamber of regions is interested in expanding contacts between the regions of our countries, including in science, education and culture,” the parliamentarian emphasised.
