The event took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The conference was attended by representatives of public authorities, financial institutions, and international and regional pilgrimage companies from more than 90 countries.
Russian senators met with Minister of Hajj and Umrah Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Tawfiq bin Fawzan al-Rabia. The meeting focused on the organisation of pilgrimages by Russian Muslims to holy sites in Saudi Arabia as part of the major and minor Hajj.
As a result of the meeting, they signed an agreement on the conditions for Russian pilgrims to perform Hajj in 2025.
Iliyas Umakhanov noted the attention that the Saudi side pays to the organisation of Russian Muslims' pilgrimages to Islamic shrines.
According to Iliyas Umakhanov, the Minister expressed gratitude for the organisation of his visit to the Russian Federation in September 2024, during which the Saudi delegation was received by the Federation Council Speaker and visited the Chechen Republic, the Republic of Dagestan, the Republic of Tatarstan, St Petersburg and Moscow. In the opinion of Tawfiq bin Fawzan al-Rabia, Russia has created excellent conditions for the free worship of Muslims.
