Vladimir Bulavin meets with Armenian Ambassador to Russia Gurgen Arsenyan

The discussion focused on the current state of Russia-Armenia relations.


Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Defence and Security Vladimir Bulavin met with Gurgen Arsenyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Russian Federation. First Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Defence and Security Viktor Bondarev and member of the committee Krym Kazanokov also attended the meeting.

Vladimir Bulavin noted that, over the past two centuries, Russia and Armenia have built a solid foundation to develop relations across different areas.

“We are interested in developing this relationship as an alliance. We are certain that interparliamentary cooperation must contribute substantially to this process,” the senator noted.

Gurgen Arsenyan said that it is time the two countries removed any aspects that may cause misunderstanding from their bilateral relations.

The parties noted that new issues have emerged in Russia-Armenia relations that require additional efforts. Vladimir Bulavin stressed the importance of strengthening links between the defence ministries of the two countries.

The parties agreed to continue cooperation and regular exchange of opinions on regional security matters.
