Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko met with Speaker of the Senate, the upper house of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Maulen Ashimbayev, in Dushanbe on the sidelines of the international parliamentary conference titled 30 Tears of Tajikistan Republic’s Constitution.

“Kazakhstan is our strategic ally and one of our closest partners. Relations between our countries are developing consistently and very successfully. The presidents of our countries have already met four times since the beginning of 2024. The participation of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in the Summit of CIS member states was a highly important event,” Valentina Matvienko said.

She informed Maulen Ashimbayev about the report she made as Chair of the Council of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly at the CIS Heads of State Council Meeting on efforts to strengthen integration cooperation.

We are planning to invite participants in the Memory Train cultural and educational project. This year, pupils from eight CIS countries, including Kazakhstan, and high school students from all former Soviet republics have taken an active part in the project.”

Valentina Matvienko invited her Kazakhstani colleagues to take part in a meeting of the Council of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and a regular plenary session, scheduled for 21–22 November 2024.
