According to the Federation Council Speaker, the Final Document of the Fourth Eurasian Women’s Forum will be sent to the UN.
Federation Council Speaker, Chair the CIS IPA Council Valentina Matvienko held the final plenary session of the Fourth Eurasian Women’s Forum in St Petersburg. Representatives of 126 countries and 21 international organisations took part in the Forum on 18–20 September.
The Federation Council Speaker noted that, during these three days, the forum set new records in terms of the number of participants, the scope of topics, and the level of events: “Once again, we felt the incomparable unity, cohesion, and mutual respect that make the Forum not only the largest global event, but a community of true friends and like-minded people.”
According to Valentina Matvienko, President of Russia Vladimir Putin’s personal participation makes the event even more significant and imposes a special responsibility on all involved.
“Thousands of people have given their hard work and their hearts to ensure that this global event is successful and flawless.”
The Federation Council Speaker believes that the platform approach that served as foundation of the Forum has fully justified itself and made it possible to consider the entire range of multifaceted interaction between women: in the economy, science, the humanitarian sphere, and public projects.
“For the first time, the BRICS agenda was so widely represented on the sidelines of our Forum. The project pool covered 32 areas, and all the projects are filled with serious content, meaning, and real goals.”
Valentina Matvienko emphasised that the EWF meetings are distinguished by the spirit of partnership and mutual respect.
“Our women’s community demonstrates to the world its readiness to engage in dialogue, seek common solutions and approaches, and create a future that is common to the entire world. Hence, we strive to implement all the proposals made at the Forum in concrete actions,” she said, adding that the Final Document of the Forum will be sent to the UN, heads of state and government, parliamentarians, heads of major international organisations and public associations, and participants in the upcoming BRICS Summit in Kazan.
The Speaker called on the participants to rely on these recommendations in their future work and implement them.
Deputy Federation Council Speaker Konstantin Kosachev presented the Final Document of the Forum:
“We believe that a truly democratic and just world is the world where women’s voices must be heard and considered. The Final Document’s key call to all progressive women’s organisations in the world is to actively engage in activities to form a more just world order based on the civilisational diversity, the balance of power and interests of all participants in the international community, with unconditional equality of all states, all societies, all countries and all nations.”
During the final plenary session, speeches were delivered by Vice President and First Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women’s Federation Huang Xiaowei, Deputy Chair of the People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan Khayrinisso Yusufi, Sherpa of the Republic of Indonesia at the W20 Hadriani Uli Silalahi, and Head of the National Centre for Historical Memory under the President of the Russian Federation Yelena Malysheva. During the plenary session, video greetings were also made by President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia Khuon Sudari and President of the Parliament of the Southern Common Market Fabiana Martin.
“Women’s seeking for compromise solutions even in the most complicated areas of public life is a foundation for a successful and happy future of Russia, in all its aspects. No matter what a woman does today, her contribution to maintaining peace, stability, and high-quality communication between countries and nations cannot be underestimated. We see how interest in the Forum is growing, as well as the number of its participants. This year, it was attended by delegates from almost half of the countries in the world,” Adviser to the President of Russia and executive secretary of the organising committee for Russia's BRICS chairmanship in 2024 Anton Kobyakov said.
