The senator held a meeting as part of preparations for the upcoming visit of the Kingdom’s Minister of Hajj and Umrah to Moscow.
First Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture, officer of the Religious Communities Commission of the Russian Government Iliyas Umakhanov and Undersecretary for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Alhassan Yehia Almanakhra held a meeting on the organisation of the Hajj for Russian pilgrims.
The meeting was also attended by Russian senator Belan Khamchiev and head of the Hajj Mission of Russia Khizbula Asuyev.
The meeting participants discussed the outcomes of the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage of Russian Muslims to Mecca and Medina, Saudi Arabia. A preliminary exchange of ideas on improving the organisation of the Hajj for Russian pilgrims also took place.
These matters will be explored in greater detail during the upcoming visit to Moscow by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, scheduled for September, Ilyas Umakhanov said.
He thanked the representatives of Saudi Arabia for their ongoing attention to the organisation of the Hajj for Russian Muslims.
This year, nearly 25,000 citizens of the Russian Federation were able to undertake the pilgrimage to the holy sites. The pilgrims were accompanied by 250 members of the Russian Hajj Mission, along with medical personnel.
