The Deputy Federation Council Speaker took part in a meeting of the Council of the Consortium of Education and Science Organisations.
Deputy Federation Council Speaker Konstantin Kosachev took part in a videoconference meeting of the Council of the Consortium of Education and Science Organisations. The participants discussed the implementation of a programme called Ambassadors of Russian Education and Science.
The meeting participants approved the candidates for Ambassadors of Russian Education and Science, a title bestowed on Russian and foreign citizens who promote national education and science at various international and socially significant platforms.
According to Konstantin Kosachev, ambassadors of Russian education and science should utilise opportunities for expanding international cooperation to the greatest possible extent. “Unfortunately, their number is now dwindling due to the unconstructive position of certain countries.”
The senator believes that any sanctions against scientists hamper efforts to address pressing challenges facing humankind, including climate change and the need for new healthcare technologies. “Russia is always open for collaboration in science and education, and the mission of ambassadors of Russian education and science is to inform the vast international audience about this.”
The Consortium of Education and Science Organisations was established for implementing the Ambassadors of Russian Education and Science programme, approved by a decision of the Interdepartmental Working Group for Coordinating International Cooperation in Education. The programme’s high-priority objectives include efforts to boost the popularity and prestige of education in line with Russian standards, to represent the interests of Russian universities abroad, and to forge Russia’s positive image.
On 23 November 2023, the first 11 people received the honorary title of Ambassador of Russian Education and Science at an official ceremony.
