Konstantin Kosachev extends his condolences on the tragic death of the Iranian President and Foreign Minister in a helicopter crash

The Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council wrote a message of condolences in the condolence book opened at the residence of the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic in Moscow on Wednesday.


Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev expressed his condolences over the helicopter crash that claimed the lives of President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Sayyid Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian.

“On behalf of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and myself, I extend my deepest condolences and offer support to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyyed Ali Khamenei and the people of Iran on the tragic demise of President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and their entourage,” Konstantin Kosachev wrote.

Speaking with Iranian Ambassador to the Russian Federation Kazem Jalali, Konstantin Kosachev said that today’s meeting of the Federation Council began with a message of condolences for the victims of the tragedy, adding that they would be remembered not only as true patriots of their country who selflessly worked for the benefit of the nation, but also as outstanding political figures who enjoyed indisputable respect in the international arena.

“The Federation Council will make every effort to promote the Russian and Iranian leaders’ policy to forge a strategic partnership between the two countries,” Konstantin Kosachev said.

Earlier, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko sent a letter of condolences to Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
