Andrei Klimov: Commission on Protecting State Sovereignty is open for interaction with friendly countries' diplomatic representatives

The Senator spoke about the meeting with ambassadors from friendly countries at the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs and Chair of the Federation Council Commission on Protecting State Sovereignty and Preventing Interference in the Domestic Affairs of the Russian Federation Andrey Klimov spoke about his meeting with ambassadors from friendly countries at the Russian Foreign Ministry. The meeting was designed to explain the provisions of the Appeal of the Federation Council to the United Nations, international parliamentary organizations and parliaments of foreign states in connection with the attempts of external interference in the preparation and organization of elections of the President of the Russian Federation held on 15–17 March, adopted on 3 April 2024.

Earlier, the Senator underscored the need for bringing the position of the Federation Council to the foreign public’s notice.

“Members of the senators’ commission used to meet with diplomats prior to the elections in Russia. As a rule it concerned diplomats from Western countries. This meeting with ambassadors from friendly countries is a new format for us. We made it a point that the Federation Council Commission on Protecting State Sovereignty and Preventing Interference in the Domestic Affairs of the Russian Federation was open for interaction with diplomatic representatives from friendly countries. We are ready to exchange information with them for protecting state sovereignty by parliamentary methods,” stressed Andrey Klimov.
