Konstantin Kosachev: Contacts between Russian and Bahraini parliamentarians promote new areas of interstate cooperation

The Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council met with the Ambassador of Bahrain to the Russian Federation.


Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev had a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Russian Federation Ahmed Abdulrahman Al Saati.

Konstantin Kosachev noted the active work done by the Embassy of Bahrain in Russia, which the parliamentarian believes, has a beneficial effect on the intensity of bilateral interstate contacts.

“The positions of our countries on many international issues are close or identical. And regular interparliamentary contacts underscore it. Russian legislators are ready to go on consolidating them,” the Deputy Speaker said.

According to Ahmed Abdulrahman Al Saati, Bahrain intends to further develop relations with Russia in all areas, including interaction on international problems.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Bahrain reaffirmed the wish to make mutual contacts at the legislative level more active. In this regard he informed on setting up friendship groups in both chambers of the Bahrain National Assembly and the readiness of its Consultative Council (upper house) to intensify interaction with the Federal Assembly in any way.

During the conversation the parties discussed possible new areas of bilateral cooperation in the development of agreements achieved during the official visit of the Federation Council delegation led by its Speaker to Bahrain in December 2021.

The Ambassador of Bahrain stressed the importance of and demand for meetings between Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev and the Arab countries’ heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Russia, the latest of which took place in April 2024.

In addition, the parties reaffirmed their interest in maintaining active contacts within the Interparliamentary Union for promoting a constructive agenda at this generally recognised authoritative interparliamentary platform.
