People voted for stability and further national development, Federation Council delegation head Grigory Karasin said.
The delegation of the Federation Council took part in the monitoring of the early election of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The delegation included Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Grigory Karasin (head), First Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture Iliyas Umakhanov, Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Federal Structure, Regional Policy, Local Government and Northern Affairs Anatoly Shirokov ( SCO), and member of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building Alexander Bashkin ( CIS Interparliamentary Assembly).
The senators visited polling stations and monitored the vote count.
According to Grigory Karasin, the atmosphere during the voting was friendly, with people casting votes for stability and further development of their country.
“We saw people’s smiles, their hope for the future. Everything was organised almost perfectly. The voting was held in the spacious halls of universities, schools, and museums. People felt they were shaping the future of their country. International monitors were given full access to the election process,” said Grigory Karasin.
“We are convinced that Azerbaijan will continue to follow the path of a modern, dynamically developing state and will be one of the centres of political and economic activity,” the senator noted.
