Konstantin Kosachev met with First Vice President of the Federal Senate of the National Congress of Brazil Veneziano Vital do Rego

The officials discussed Russian-Brazilian inter-parliamentary cooperation in the course of upcoming international forums.

Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev met with First Vice President of the Federal Senate of the National Congress of the Federative Republic of Brazil Veneziano Vital do Rego. The meeting was also attended by First Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Sergei Kislyak and First Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on the Budget and Financial Markets, head of the group on cooperation between the Federation Council and the Senate of the National Congress of the Federative Republic of Brazil Sergey Ryabukhin.

“The views of Russia and Brazil on the processes taking place in the world today are close or coincide. Parliamentarians need to focus on the topics that make our cooperation possible within the framework of such an authoritative association as BRICS,” Konstantin Kosachev said.

According to Kosachev, Russian parliamentarians expect their Brazilian colleagues to take an active part in the events to be held this year under the parliamentary control and with the participation of parliamentarians.

Specifically, the officials discussed issues related to Brazil’s chairmanship of the G20, Russia’s chairmanship of BRICS, and the upcoming parliamentary forums ahead of the meetings of heads of state within these associations.

Konstantin Kosachev confirmed the invitation to Brazilian legislators to participate in the monitoring of the Russian presidential elections, as well as in the activities of the Forum of Supporters of the Struggle against Modern Practices of Neocolonialism.

Veneziano Vital do Rego emphasised that Brazilian parliamentarians shared the Russian vision of current global problems and, on behalf of his colleagues, noted their readiness to concentrate their efforts on addressing bilateral cooperation issues, on which their views coincide.
