Grigory Karasin meets with delegation of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic’s Supreme Council

The parties had a constructive conversation on social, economic and political matters.

Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Grigory Karasin met with a delegation of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic’s Supreme Council. Among the meeting participants were First Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Defence and Security Vladimir Chizhov and Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Farit Mukhametshin.

“Russian senators intend to continue constructive conversation with the representatives of Transnistria on all relevant issues,” Grigory Karasin emphasised.

He said that in mid-December 2023, the senators met with Speaker of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Korshunov, adding, “The parliamentarians closely follow the developments in Transnistria and around it.”

The delegation head, Chair of the Supreme Council Committee on Social Policy, Health Protection, Employment, Family and Childhood Sergey Cheban, thanked Russia for its support and described the current situation in Transnistria in detail.

The meeting participants had a constructive conversation on social, economic and political matters, and expressed concern over recent developments in Transnistria, specifically the obstacles imposed on the operations of Transnistrian enterprises and the intensification of the economic blockade by the Moldovan authorities. Parliamentary measures have been outlined to counteract the destructive external forces hindering the development of Transnistria.
