Konstantin Kosachev attends a meeting of the Government Commission on Affairs of Compatriots Living Abroad

Members of the commission supported the Deputy Speaker’s proposal to include a separate track involving compatriots abroad in the event programme of the 4th Eurasian Women’s Forum.


Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev attended a meeting of the Government Commission on Affairs of Compatriots Living Abroad.

The meeting, chaired by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, took place at the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The participants summarised the results of the World Thematic Conference of Russian Compatriots Living Abroad, which took place in November 2023, and approved a plan of measures to implement the Russian state policy concerning compatriots living abroad.

Members of the commission supported the Deputy Speaker’s proposal to include a separate track involving compatriots abroad in the event programme of the 4th Eurasian Women’s Forum coming up in September 2024 under the aegis of the Federation Council.

The participants specifically discussed Russian compatriots’ events marking the Year of Family and important anniversaries of the Great Patriotic War, including the 80th anniversary of lifting the siege of Leningrad.

The Government Commission on Affairs of Compatriots Living Abroad was established by the Presidential Executive Order On Priorities of the Russian State Policy Concerning Compatriots Living Abroad, and the Government Resolution On Supporting Compatriots Living Abroad.

The commission is responsible for consolidating the experience of government executive bodies concerning compatriots living abroad, advising government bodies on improving the state policy concerning compatriots living abroad and developing proposals on improving the respective regulatory framework.
