Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev took part in a meeting of the Organising Committee for Preparing and Ensuring the Russian Federation's Presidency of BRICS in 2024.

The participants discussed preparations for the presidency events that are to be held in 15 Russian cities, and also considered a number of substantive and organisational issues.
On 1 January 2024, the Russian Federation assumes the rotating presidency of BRICS under the motto: “Strengthening multilateralism for equitable global development and security.“
It is planned to hold the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan in October 2024.
On the parliamentary side, the 10th BRICS Parliamentary Forum is scheduled to be held in St Petersburg in the summer of 2024. There will also be a meeting at the level of chairmen of the parliamentary committees on international affairs of the BRICS member countries in Moscow.
