Russian senators meet with coordinator for relations with Russia at the Senate of the Republic of the General Congress of the United Mexican States

The consensus on developing inter-parliamentary cooperation was emphasised.


A group of senators met with Navor Alberto Rojas Mancera, coordinator for relations with the Russian Federation at the Senate of the Republic of the General Congress of the United Mexican States. The meeting was held via videoconference.

The Russian side was represented by Sergei Kislyak, Irina Rukavishnikova, Lyudmila Skakovskaya, Valery Vasilyev, Sergei Mikhailov, Dina Oyun and Margarita Pavlova, members of the group for cooperation between the Federation Council of the Russian Federation and the Senate of the Republic of the General Congress of the United Mexican States.

Current issues on the international agenda were discussed.

During the meeting, there was emphasis on the countries’ shared intention to develop inter-parliamentary cooperation, which is one of the potentially important tools for strengthening Russian-Mexican ties.

The senators confirmed their interest in putting relations between the upper houses of parliament of Russia and Mexico on a systematic, long-term footing.

The parties agreed to work out specific mechanisms to further advance the dialogue, as well as priority topics of mutual interest. Contacts between senators of Russia and Mexico will continue in the near future.
