Bair Zhamsuyev: Trans-Baikal Territory and Dornod Province boost cooperation

The senator visited Mongolia’s easternmost Dornod Aimag (Province) as part of a delegation from the Trans-Baikal Territory.

Bair Zhamsuyev, Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs and representative of the authorities in the Trans-Baikal Territory, visited Dornod Aimag (Province) of Mongolia as part of an official delegation representing the Trans-Baikal Territory.

Members of the delegation met with the leaders of Dornod Aimag in the city of Choibalsan.

At the meeting, Mr Zhamsuyev, Governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory Alexander Osipov and Governor of Dornod Aimag Myagmarsuren Badamsuren discussed prospects for cooperation, with the Mongolian side expressing a willingness to thoroughly consider the proposals.

According to Bair Zhamsuyev, the proposals include organising expansive celebrations in 2024 to mark the 85th anniversary of the victory of the Battle of Khalkhin Gol, resuming the Days of Dornod Aimag in the Trans-Baikal Territory as well as the Days of the Trans-Baikal Territory in Dornod Aimag, holding joint sports competitions, and implementing projects in the economy, tourism and environmental protection.

“Russia-Mongolia neighbourly relations continue to evolve. Today, we must focus on our joint efforts in socio-economic, sports and cultural interaction,” Bair Zhamsuyev said.

Alexander Osipov thanked the Mongolian side for the very high quality of meeting the Trans-Baikal delegation and expressed confidence in further efficient cooperation.

“Our countries have great potential for joint cooperation, such as in agriculture, the economy, culture, education, sport, and tourism. Negotiations are already underway to set up trade facilities in Mongolia to sell high-demand goods manufactured by companies based in the Trans-Baikal Territory. Areas of prospective cooperation also include exports of foodstuffs, mineral water, compound feed, grain, wool, construction materials, and boiler and gas-cleaning equipment,” the Governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory noted.
