Andrey Klimov: The government and our civil society are prepared for the next election cycle

The senator said this during a news conference on “Elections 2023: External Threats to Russian Electoral Sovereignty.”

A news conference was held by Andrey Klimov, Chair of the Federation Council Commission on the Protection of State Sovereignty and Prevention of Interference in the Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, on the theme “Elections 2023: External Threats to Russian Electoral Sovereignty.”

Andrey Klimov, Chair of the Federation Council Commission on the Protection of State Sovereignty and Prevention of Interference in the Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation and Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs, said that ahead of the regional and municipal elections in the Russian Federation, Russia’s enemies were doing everything possible to sow doubt in the stability of the Russian political system and instigate people to destructive actions.

“Those who have officially declared Russia an enemy for a long time are scheming and pursuing measures to sow panic and distrust in the election procedure, in authority as such, and they are encouraging separatism and extremism on religious, ethnic, and social grounds,” the senator noted.

“No matter how hard the enemies of Russia try to prevent Russians from exercising their constitutional right to form regional and local authorities, nothing will come out of it. The state and our civil society are fully prepared for the next election cycle. Despite all the challenges, the legal rights of the people will be respected across the Russian Federation,” Andrey Klimov emphasised.
