In today's world, the main causes of conflict and discord are a lack of understanding, an unwillingness to listen to a different point of view and to engage in dialogue on an equal footing. It would be no exaggeration to say that the world is in dire need of real professionals, truly wise and insightful politicians, such as Heydar Aliyev was,” the Federation Council Speaker said in her greeting.

For instance, a stamp redemption ceremony, thematic exhibitions at the Federation Council and the State Duma, events in Astrakhan, which has a tradition of upholding interregional relations with Azerbaijan. The centenary is also celebrated in Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Khabarovsk, Kurgan and other Russian cities.
