Valentina Matvienko and Natalya Kochanova discuss the development of Russian-Belarusian interparliamentary relations

The conversation between the Speaker of the Federation Council and the Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus took place in St Petersburg on the sidelines of the spring session of IPA CIS.


Speaker of the Federation Council and Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council Valentina Matvienko met with Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalya Kochanova. The conversation took place in St Petersburg on the sidelines of the spring session of IPA CIS.

The parties noted the strong personal contacts and discussed the development of bilateral interparliamentary relations.

Valentina Matvienko and Natalya Kochanova stressed that the recent meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State had given new impetus to parliamentary interaction as well. In the speeches of the presidents of Russia and Belarus, Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko, the main directions for the development of bilateral relations were clearly defined.

Valentina Matvienko and Natalya Kochanova discussed in detail preparations for the 10th Forum of the Regions of Russia and Belarus, which will be held in Ufa this year.
