First batch of humanitarian aid to schoolchildren in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics will be delivered this week, the senator said.
Books, stationery, backpacks, school and sports uniforms, footwear and other essentials were collected and prepared to be delivered to the DPR and LPR by the Soon to School charity campaign. Good worth of about eight million roubles in retail prices have been collected, weighing 10 tonnes in total. This was announced by Lilia Gumerova, Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture.
The senator said that the first batch of humanitarian aid for children from Donbass will be sent this week.
She explained that the idea to hold the Soon to School charity event ahead of September 1 emerged following a meeting of the Presidential Council for the Implementation of State Policy in the Sphere of Protecting Family and Children.
”The campaign was organised by the specialised Federation Council Committee in cooperation with the Association of the Children's Goods Industry. In addition, the collection will continue until 15 September and the second batch of humanitarian aid will be delivered to schoolchildren in the DNR and LNR,“ the parliamentarian said.
Lilia Gumerova said that the Committee is actively cooperating with the relevant agencies in the republics, and representatives of the Committee have visited Donetsk and Lugansk with a humanitarian mission.
