Deputy Federation Council Speaker Konstantin Kosachev took part in the work of the 10th Moscow Conference on International Security.

The President of the Russian Federation addressed conference participants via videoconference.

This is the tenth Moscow Conference on International Security to date. The current forum involves over 700 guests, including 32 national defence ministers, chiefs of general staffs, defence agency delegations, representatives of the expert community from various countries and representatives of international organisations.

This year, the influential international expert venue is focusing on the most pressing challenges in the area of global and regional security. The discussion of these matters is intended to facilitate greater mutual understanding and more transparent military activities, Konstantin Kosachev noted.

The Deputy Federation Council Speaker held bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the forum. He had a conversation with Thandi Ruth Modise, Minister of Defence and Military Veterans of the Republic of South Africa. She headed the National Assembly, the lower house of the South African Parliament, until August 2021. In 2014–2019, she headed the National Council of Provinces, the Parliament’s upper house. She was actively involved in inter-parliamentary interaction between Russia and the Republic of South Africa in the bilateral format and at international venues.

During the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their mutual commitment to the further expansion of bilateral cooperation.
