The delegation was headed by Committee Chair Viktor Bondarev.
A delegation of the Federation Council Committee on Defence and Security headed by its Chair Viktor Bondarev visited the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria.
The delegation included First Deputy Chair of the Committee Alexander Rakitin and Committee member Alexander Yaroshuk.
During the visit, meetings were held with the Speaker of the Council of the Nation (upper house of Parliament) Salah Goudjil, the Speaker of the People's National Assembly (lower house) Brahim Boughali, with members of the National Defence Committee of the Council of the Nation and with the Chair of the National Defence Committee of the People's National Assembly Rabah Djeddou. Meetings were also held with Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra, Minister of the Interior, Local Government and Regional Planning Kamel Beldjoud, Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defence Mohamed Saleh Benbiсha and Air Force Commander Mahmoud Laraba.
”During the meetings members of the delegation noted Algeria’s readiness to maintain high-profile, meaningful bilateral contacts, goodwill and a commitment to promoting strategic partnership in the political and military spheres, as well as the defence industry, trade and the economy, energy and more. They have outlined steps to further develop these spheres, expand direct contacts between the business communities of our countries, and strengthen the legal framework of cooperation,“ Senator Bondarev said.
”We emphasised that expanding and strengthening Russia's relations with Algeria would contribute to the restoration of Russia's historical influence in Arab countries, especially those that have extensive experience working with our country and advancing shared global goals,“ he stressed.
Viktor Bondarev also said that high-ranking Algerian representatives have been informed of the causes and progress of the Russian Federation's special military operation in Ukraine.
”We expressed confidence that the visit will strengthen Russian-Algerian cooperation in all spheres,“ Viktor Bondarev concluded.
