Federation Council’s delegation headed by Deputy Speaker Konstantin Kosachev is on an official visit to Mongolia

In Ulan Bator Russian senators are meeting with their colleagues from the State Great Khural of Mongolia while taking part in a number of events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Russian-Mongolian diplomatic relations.

A delegation of the Federation Council headed by Deputy Speaker Konstantin Kosachev is paying an official visit to Mongolia on November 4–6. The delegation includes Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Bair Zhamsuyev.

Russian senators are taking part in events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Russian-Mongolian diplomatic relations.

Negotiations were held with the Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia Mr. Zandanshatar Gombojav.

During the meeting, Konstantin Kosachev conveyed a personal message from the Speaker of the Federation Council.

Konstantin Kosachev pointed out that along with congratulatory messages passed on by the President and the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, such a sign of attention confirms the great importance that the leadership of our country attaches to the development of strategic partnership between Russia and Mongolia.

Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council also noted that strengthening good-neighborliness and a comprehensive strategic partnership with Mongolia remains one of the priority tasks of Russian foreign policy. ”The traditionally friendly bilateral relations are based on years of cooperation, close and multifaceted ties in the economic and humanitarian fields, as well as consonant approaches to pressing issues of international and regional agenda“.

According to Konstantin Kosachev, an integral element of a full-fledged balanced Russian-Mongolian political dialogue is the bilateral parliamentary cooperation.

“We are actively developing our interaction at international parliamentary platforms, in particular within the framework of such a highly reputed inter-parliamentary association as the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum. As always, great attention is paid to strengthening ties in the field of science and education” — the Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council noted.

In his opinion, despite the known restrictions related to countering the spread of the new coronavirus infection, we still managed to maintain good dynamics in the development of a bilateral dialogue.

The members of the Federation Council delegation also met with the Prime Minister of Mongolia Luvsannamrai Oyun-Erdene.

“We are deeply convinced that the union and mutual understanding that arose a hundred years ago have been time-tested and remain unshakable. Mongolia is not only a close neighbor of Russia, but also a key strategic partner” — Konstantin Kosachev stated.

He noted that in the current year of 2021, a Plan of Joint Russian-Mongolian Events has been approved. The Plan provides for more than ninety events, thus aiming to intensify the political and public contacts, along with interaction in the economic, humanitarian and other fields.

During the visit, members of the Federation Council delegation attended a meeting of the State Great Khural of Mongolia, delivered speeches at the Russian-Mongolian media forum ”Good Neighbors — Dialogue Without Borders“, and laid wreaths at the monument to G.K. Zhukov. The senators also took part in the opening ceremony of the Days of Russian-Mongolian Friendship, and participated in the solemn opening of the first day of the joint issue of a postage stamp dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Russia.
