Grigory Karasin: Russia sees Croatia as a responsible European partner

The senator met with the chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Croatian Parliament.

Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Grigory Karasin met with Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Croatian Sabor (parliament) Gari Cappelli, via videoconference.

Grigory Karasin reminded Gari Cappelli that next May will mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Croatia.

“We regard Croatia as a responsible European partner. Russia’s interaction with Croatia is mutually beneficial and relies on a mutual understanding of both countries’ national interests,” Grigory Karasin said. “This is especially important in the current difficult period in international affairs,” he emphasised.

According to the chair of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs, Russian parliamentarians support reviving inter-parliamentary dialogue, which should play a positive role in maintaining a favourable climate in interstate relations.

During the conversation, the Russian senator reiterated Russia’s interest in the opening of a Russian cultural centre in Zagreb.

Grigory Karasin reaffirmed the invitation to Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Gordan Jandrokovic to visit Russia.
