The Federation Council Speaker addressed participants of the 12th Russia – Islamic World International Economic Summit, KazanSummit 2021.

The Russian Federation is seeking to further strengthen cooperation with Islamic countries. Russia’s history and everyday practices manifest themselves in tremendous, constructive potential for living together in peace and harmony and maintaining close contacts between representatives of different ethnicities, religions and cultures, according to a video address by Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko to participants of the 12th Russia – Islamic World International Economic Summit, KazanSummit 2021.

Valentina Matvienko welcomed the summit’s traditional approaches to its work and its focus on building a system of international economic relations that are free from unfair competition, political pressure, sanctions and other constraints.

The summit today is an acclaimed and influential platform for discussing the strengthening of links in trade and the economy, science and technology, and social and cultural affairs between Russia and the Organisation for Islamic Cooperation.

“I am delighted that after a 12-month break, this platform has resumed its operation. Today the summit is an acclaimed and influential platform for discussing the strengthening of links in trade and the economy, science and technology, and social and cultural affairs between Russia and the Organisation for Islamic Cooperation (OIC),” the Speaker said.

The summit programme includes discussions of the most relevant issues pertaining to the relations between Russia and the Islamic world, including Islamic finance and Russian business development, expansion of Russia’s ties with Muslim countries in joint investment projects, and ethical business as a response to modern challenges, Valentina Matvienko noted. She was confident that these topics and newly emerging ideas would be successfully developed.

The Speaker wished summit participants success in establishing business contacts and strengthening trust, which is the foundation of genuinely strong partnership.
