Federation Council delegation attends summer session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly

First Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Vladimir Dzhabarov led a delegation of Russian senators at the summer session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.

A delegation of Federation Council members, including First Deputy Chair of the Committee on the Budget and Financial Markets Nikolai Zhuravlev, Deputy Chair of the Committee on House Rules and Parliamentary Governance Sergei Mamedov, Deputy Chair of the Committee on Agriculture and Food Policy and Environmental Management Irina Gekht and member of the Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building Lyudmila Narusova, is attending the 28th Annual Session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly held in Luxembourg on 4–8 July.

The delegation is led by First Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Vladimir Dzhabarov.

He said that the theme of the session, Advancing Sustainable Development to Promote Security: The Role of Parliaments, had a unifying character and covered a broad range of current issues.

“We are fully committed to promoting an international agenda that would create a peaceful and safe future”

“We the members of parliament are fully committed to promoting an international agenda that would create a peaceful and safe future,” Vladimir Dzhabarov noted before the session.

He pointed out that legislators should pay particular attention to the legal aspects of international cooperation.

“This is especially important at a time when some UN member states, sidestepping the UN Security Council, are introducing illegitimate unilateral sanctions, including discriminatory restrictions against MPs. We consider the creation of obstacles to the comprehensive participation of parliamentary delegations in the work of multilateral organisations unacceptable,” the head of the Federation Council’s delegation emphasised.
