Vladimir Poletayev: Federation Council delegation’s upcoming visit to Poland discussed at the meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin

Senators’ visit will be timed to coincide with the 74th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp


Vladimir Poletayev, Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on House Rules and Parliamentary Governance, representative of the executive authority of the Republic of Altai, held a meeting with State Secretary and Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin.

“We have discussed details of the Federation Council delegation’s upcoming visit to Poland, which is timed to coincide with the 74th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp. We also considered issues related to the development of border cooperation between the Republic of Altai and neighouring regions in China, Mongolia and Kazakhstan,” noted Vladimir Poletayev.

During the conversation, the officials also discussed the prospects for the development of parliamentary diplomacy and the organisation of major international events in the Republic of Altai.

Grigory Karasin, who is responsible for issues related to cooperation with the chambers of the Federation Council at the Foreign Ministry, believes that the parliamentarians’ role in achieving mutual understanding and cooperation between countries is increasing each year. Russian regions also have high potential in this sphere, according to Vladimir Poletayev.

“The regions that have state borders with the Russian Federation are interested in strengthening economic and cultural ties with the bordering regions of neighbouring countries,” the senator noted. According to Poletayev, the Republic of Altai has good prospects for the implementation of joint projects with neighbouring countries.
