The meeting’s agenda focused on the implementation of 28 sectoral Union programmes.

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko chaired a meeting of the Union State Supreme State Council in the Kremlin. Federation Council Speaker and Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council Valentina Matvienko attended the meeting.

The Supreme State Council reviewed the progress made in the implementation of a key document, titled Main Areas for the Implementation of the Terms of the Treaty on the Creation of the Union State for 2021–2023, which provides for joint work on 28 sectoral Union programmes.

Vladimir Putin stressed that Russia and Belarus established extensive mutually beneficial trade and economic ties, and reinforced their cooperation in defence, science and technology, education, culture and other fields. “Acting in close coordination, the governments of our countries are working to ensure macroeconomic stability. Interaction in the currency, finance and monetary spheres is expanding,” the President of Russia pointed out.

Vladimir Putin noted significant achievements in the integration of key sectors of the economy. According to him, the governments and relevant agencies of the two countries have already completed 74 percent of the activities planned in accordance with 28 priority sectoral programmes. “This work is yielding tangible results. We will certainly continue this without slowing down,” he said.
