Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev has taken part in the New Meanings of the New Reality International Forum.
The event brought together heads of the relevant Russian ministries, members of parliament, academics, experts, as well as Russian and foreign journalists. The discussion focused on the new meanings in the context of the changing global situation, as well as the new understanding and use of the main tools and features of the information and sociocultural areas.
Konstantin Kosachev noted that the confrontation that stretches back to the Cold War has in fact never ceased. According to the Deputy Speaker, Russia has consistently suggested formats of interaction and mutually acceptable security architecture. “However, the West, obviously, needed not security but victory over Russia. So there is no going back to the previous model of relations.”
“The new reality should create global meanings both in the cultural sphere (promoting the image of Russia as a country with unique achievements in interfaith relations and ethnic policy), and in the economic sphere (the self-sufficiency of the economy and the wellbeing of people), and in foreign policy,” Konstantin Kosachev believes.
State Secretary of the Union State of Russia and Belarus Dmitry Mezentsev, Head of Rossotrudnichestvo Yevgeny Primakov, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, Chairman of the Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights Valery Fadeyev, and CGTN (China Global Television Network) Director-General Fan Yun also took part in the forum.
