Andrey Yatskin: The Federation Council will help unlock the huge potential of Russian-Vietnamese relations

Senators had a working meeting with Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Russian Federation Dang Minh Khoi.


Andrey Yatskin, First Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council and head of the group for cooperation between the upper house of the Russian Parliament and the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and Konstantin Kosachev, Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council, held a working meeting with Dang Minh Khoi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Russian Federation.

During the consultations, which took place in a friendly, constructive atmosphere of partnership at the Embassy of Vietnam in Moscow, the officials discussed a wide range of issues on the agenda of bilateral relations and inter-parliamentary cooperation.

They focused on parliamentary support for the comprehensive efforts to rapidly build up bilateral trade and economic exchanges, transition to payments in national currencies, remove barriers to investment cooperation, work together in the military and military-technical fields, and deepen and intensify partnership in the cultural sphere, including educational and youth cooperation.

The Vietnamese side pointed out that the recreation and tourism sectors had resumed activities and the country was open to tourism exchanges, stressing its interest in welcoming Russian tourists.

The sides highlighted the dialogue between their political and social associations and reciprocal efforts to ensure favourable legal conditions for the Russian and Vietnamese diasporas in their respective jurisdictions.

The parties reaffirmed their intention to continue intensive contacts through the two countries' parliamentary friendship groups.
