Konstantin Kosachyov attends 14th Eurasian Media Forum launched in Almaty on 23 May

The Federation Council Speaker sent greetings to the forum participants.

Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Konstantin Kosachyov took part in the 14th Eurasian Media Forum, which opened in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on 23 May. He greeted the forum participants on behalf of Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko.

Matvienko’s message noted that it is no coincidence that the Eurasian Media Forum is held annually in Kazakhstan, which initiated and inspired Eurasian integration.

Her message emphasised that the Eurasian Media Forum is an effective tool for making the Eurasian Economic Union an important centre of development for today’s world, open for equal and mutually beneficial cooperation with foreign partners and building new interaction formats.

Konstantin Kosachyov also held a meeting with Speaker of the Kazakhstani Senate Dariga Nazarbayeva, who has chaired the forum’s organising committee from the very beginning.

During their detailed conversation, the officials discussed prospects of bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation as well as interaction between the two countries and the two parliaments at multilateral organisations such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the SCO.

The Eurasian Media Forum has been held since 2002. Over 700 politicians, public figures, journalists and experts from 60 countries, including Russia, are attending the current session.
