Mirzoyan: Armenia, Russia have considerable potential for expanding fruitful cooperation

President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan spoke at a meeting of the Federation Council.

President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan spoke at a meeting of the Federation Council as part of his official visit to Russia.

Armenia and Russia have special relations, the head of the Armenian parliament noted. “Armenia sees Russia as its strategic partner. Efforts to further strengthen bilateral ties and overcome possible barriers along this road rank among our foreign policy priorities,” he noted.

Ararat Mirzoyan said it was necessary to support intensive dialogue at the level of both states’ leaders and to strengthen it through inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Remarks by President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan:

“The Commission for Cooperation between the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and the Federal Assembly of Russia plays a highly important role. This is an effective platform for constructive dialogue between members of parliament, experts and representatives of the business community,” he said.

There is lively cooperation between Armenia and Russia within international military-political and economic organisations, including the Collective Security Treaty Organisation and the Eurasian Economic Union, the President of the National Assembly of Armenia added.

“Bilateral economic cooperation is developing successfully at the inter-regional level, involving virtually all Armenian regions and almost 70 regions of the Russian Federation. Nevertheless, I am confident that we have a considerable and so far untapped potential for further fruitful cooperation,” Ararat Mirzoyan said.
