The Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq
Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Konstantin Kosachev had a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq Mohamed Ali Alhakim.
“The Federation Council praises Iraq’s sustained efforts to launch and stabilise socioeconomic development and to counter the terrorist threat. We call for respecting the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Konstantin Kosachev said.
He noted that Russian-Iraqi interparliamentary ties have become more active.
“We are interested in regular contacts. We also reaffirm our readiness to assist members of the Iraqi parliament in their legislative work,” the senator said.
Mohamed Ali Alhakim thanked Konstantin Kosachev for paying attention to these matters. The Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs praised bilateral interparliamentary contacts and voiced his intention to promote closer cooperation between Russian and Iraqi parliaments.
During their meeting, Konstantin Kosachev and Mohamed Ali Alhakim discussed current matters of Russian-Iraqi relations and topical issues of the international agenda.
